Hardcover. Columbia University Press, 1927, first edition. In very good condition, pages toning, edges lightly bumped, interior is clean and bright. DJ is good, has some chipping and creasing, moderate soiling of external panels, is toning from age, in mylar cover. Biography of Caspar Wever Collins for which Fort Caspar and subsequently Casper, Wyoming was named. Lieutenant Collins was killed in the Platte Bridge Battle, July 26, 1865. Contains text and reproductions of several of Lieutenant Collins' letters.

In near fine condition, light wear on corners and edges of cover, minor staining to endpapers at hinge (from old glue?), back endpaper has a bookplate pasted in, no owner's name. Interior is clean and bright. An overview history of the cattle industry in the Old West of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, Wyoming, Dakota Territory, Montana, and Idaho. Lincoln County War merits one long paragraph, The Johnson County War is covered in two short paragraphs.
