Hardcover. University of Oklahoma Press, second printing, 1990. SIGNED BY AUTHOR on title page. In very good condition, edges lightly bumped, some minor pages soiling, DJ is very good, bottom of spine lightly bumped, protected by mylar cover. The first major battle between the US Army and the Cheyenne Indians took place on the south fork of the Solomon River in present-day Kansas. It was the only large-unit sabre charge against the Plains tribes in a battle that was as much a clash of cultures as of cavalry and Cheyenne warriors.
